KD Nygeaard CEO, Founder

KD is really the CVO — Chief Vision Officer. He is always looking for new things that SARA can do.

KD founded The Career Index Corporation in 2010 to provide vocational rehabilitation agencies with a streamlined occupational information system developed specifically to benefit people with disabilities. In 2011, he had an epiphany and began the development of SARA, which is now The Career Index Corporation’s flagship product.

KD loves software development and gets withdrawal systems if he can’t get his hands on a computer keyboard.

“I feel like I have a tiger by the tail, and I REALLY like the tiger. It’s actually quite thrilling when you have an awesome team hanging on with you.”

Since immigrating to the U.S. from Denmark in 1978, KD has been fascinated by technology and how it can turn problems into opportunities.

He studied law and economics at the University of Copenhagen, finance at USC, and graduated summa cum laude in 1980 with MBAs in Finance and Accounting from National University.

KD is a prolific inventor and high-tech entrepreneur. He was co-inventor of one of the first video vending machines in the world; collaborated with the University of California to develop an AI-based student loan default system in the early 1990s, founded ERISS Corp in 1992 and the National Center for Business and Economic Research in 1997 (a division or ERISS). At its peak, ERISS had more than 150 employees and developed and delivered occupational information systems and massive employer surveys. He partnered on the highest levels with organizations such as Accenture, International Economic Development Council, American Chamber of Commerce Executives, Monster, and American College Testing.
